Mike Grgich made the Chateau Montelena chardonnay that won the Paris tasting (seen in Bottle Shock). Mike made this 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon, and we've stored it carefully for over 23 years. Tasted in 2022, it is the perfect example of old school winemaking, coupled with a perfect vintage. Provenance: This wine was bought by SWS upon release, and stored in our own cellars. Low alcohol, just 13.3, this wine rested as intended in our naturally cool, earthen connected, deep wine cellar. Carefully remove the cork, and keep a tea strainer if you split it in two.

This wine tastes exactly as one would hope - colors and flavors intact yet slightly softened with time. Smooth and open style of cabernet - not overoaked or 'fruit forward'. Not 'elegant' either. Instead, it shows all the classic flavors and structure one hopes to experience. $150 - members $129.
