Petroni 2011 Estate Chardonnay - This wine epitomizes how chardonnay is so versatile as a wine. There is a nice oak imbued intensity that so many chardonnay lovers want WHEN it is done right. And by right, we mean with expensive, $1,000 a barrel french oak to provide just that toasty mid-palette chewiness. Cheap, mass produced chardonnay has ruined this style by using cheap oak chips soaking in stainless tanks. Here, Petroni reminds us of how well done this style is, not overwhelming the great fruit but rather enhancing the overall experience. 10 months in new and used french oak. $30. Reorder $25.50 each. 6 or more at only $24 each!
